Friday morning, fifty (50) participants graduated from the second cohort of the Work Online Dominica Program. The program is an initiative from the Government of Dominica, ISRA Aid, the United Nations Development Program Dominica, and the Dominica State College.

The program was started to educate individuals on how to earn an income online by getting online jobs available around the world. It was opened to individuals ages 16-40 years old, and the second cohort started in June 2021 with 61 participants.

Educating the individuals on how to gain the skills to get online jobs was Digital Skills Specialists Dr. Clementine Affana and Dr. Marie Pascale Affana.

Delivering the feature address was the Minister for Public Works and The Digital Economy, Senator Hon. Cassani Laville.
The minister congratulated the graduates on sacrificing to do the program and securing online jobs during the process. He encouraged them to register for Social Security and save for a rainy day.

He also noted that the Government of Dominica articulated that the Digital Economy is one of the critical pillars in building Dominica. He also mentioned that things would not go back to the way they were before.

Hon. Laville stated, âThe digital economy is the future, it is also the now, your reality, this will not go back, actually it will never go back to the way it was before, technology drives everything in the world today, the way we live, work, do business, access information, source good services and socialize and even relax.â

He noted that âThe Digital Economy is a critical building block in the creation of dynamic Dominica and we will do so by simplifying the way we do business, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of public services, building the skills and opportunities of the future and strengthening and safeguarding the national resilience.â
